The main goal of Barcelona Expert Center (BEC) is to generate higher added-value products of interest for a broad range of users. With this aim we offer the following variables:

 

Ocean variables

 

Sea Surface Salinity

  • Operational V1.0

    These products have been generated from SMOS-OS Level 2 products provided by ESA (v5.50). These level 3 and level 4 Sea Surface Salinity products are generated since year 2013 in near real time mode, whereas the prior period (2010-2013) has been generated during 2013 reprocessing campaign

  • Operational V2.0

    These products have been generated from the last version of SMOS-OS Level 2 products provided by ESA (v6.22). Additionally, Land Sea Contamination has been mitigated by means of the empirical salinity debiasing method proposed in [Olmedo et al., 2016].
